1. General information
The subject is integrated within the disciplines that allow to obtain not only knowledge, but also skills and techniques essential for accessing, locating and obtaining quality information, regardless of the support in in which it is found. It facilitates the understanding of information sources, their typology and the role they play in the process of locating and obtaining information. Students will be able to solve information problems of different complexity in their personal environment and in the development of their professional or research activity.
The subject is aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 4, 5, and 10.

- Proper use of classic sources of information.
- He is fluent in the use of different bibliographic tools.
- Performs bibliographic searches of different complexity in information sources.
- Select the most appropriate sources of general information for the information need.

4. Academic activities
Learning is based on direct interaction with tools and resources. It combines theoretical and practical knowledge in a computer classroom.
Activities:
- Theoretical classes: presentation of theoretical contents and exemplification of procedures.
- Practical classes in a computer classroom: approach, discussion and resolution of search exercises.
- Reflective reading of articles and materials and bibliographic resources of interest.
5. Assessment system
FIRST CALL
Continuous assessment system
Written test: questionnaire of theoretical and practical contents of the subject. Duration: 1:30. Assessment: 40% of the final grade.
Practical test: development and execution of an exercise/s of search and retrieval of information, using for its resolution the techniques, tools and resources explained in the classroom. They will be delivered on the dates previously indicated by the teacher. Assessment: 60% of the final grade.
Global assessment test (set by the Faculty)
Written test: questionnaire on the theoretical and practical contents of the subject. Duration: 1:30. Assessment: 40% of the final grade.
Practical test: development and execution of an exercise/s of search and retrieval of information, using for its resolution the techniques, tools and resources explained in the classroom. Duration: 1:30. Assessment: 40% of the final grade.
In order to average the tests, at least 30% of the grade must be obtained in each test.
Assessment criteria:
- Relevance of the terms selected in the information searches and correctness of the bibliographic resources used.
- Quality and relevance of responses.
- Analysis, clarity of exposition.
- Respect the rules for the presentation of academic papers.
- Terminological rigor.

Global assessment test: identical to that of the first call.
